What Does It Mean to be a Male Ally?
Over the course of my career I had experiences that led me into deep introspection regarding privilege and equality – forcing me to contemplate what it means to be a male ally.
My allyship journey started with a clear case of overt discrimination. It was shockingly unfair – and I was ashamed. Ashamed for two reasons:
- That something like this could actually occur in a company that I treasured and poured my life into.
- That I was unaware and naive to have never considered what privilege really looked like.
